Elitron Installs Defibrillator to Support Community Cardiac Emergency Response

Elitron has recently installed a defibrillator (AED) at its headquarters as part of a public health initiative aimed at improving emergency response in cases of sudden cardiac arrest. The project reflects the company’s commitment not only to workplace safety but also to supporting the wellbeing of the wider community.

Sudden cardiac arrest is currently the third leading cause of death in Europe. In these time-critical situations, rapid intervention is essential. Survival chances depend on the effectiveness of the so-called “chain of survival”, a sequence of actions that begins with the early recognition of cardiac arrest and an immediate call to the European emergency number 112. This is followed by prompt cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) performed by bystanders, which plays a fundamental role in improving survival rates and increasing the likelihood of favourable neurological outcomes.

Another key factor is the availability and timely use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). When used quickly in cases where a defibrillable heart rhythm is present, an AED can be decisive in saving a person’s life.

In recent years, both European and national legislation have increasingly emphasised the importance of expanding access to AEDs in public and workplace environments. In line with this framework, the Marche Region has developed a system designed to support rapid emergency response through the digital mapping and monitoring of defibrillators across the regional territory.

The initiative includes the use of a dedicated mobile application that allows emergency operations centres to alert and geolocate trained First Responders, enabling them to intervene quickly when a suspected cardiac arrest occurs nearby. Through the app, users can also identify the location of the nearest available AED, significantly reducing response times.

By installing a defibrillator and making it available within this regional network, Elitron is contributing to the expansion of a life-saving infrastructure designed to protect employees, visitors and the local community.

This initiative demonstrates how companies can play an active role in promoting safety and public health, reinforcing the collective effort to respond effectively in emergency situations where every second counts.
